Readwrite offers the following three after-school programs:

Sound-Start Reading for grades K-1
Reading Development for grades 2-6
Math Development for grades 2-6

Here’s how it works:

1. Option A or B
   • Option A: The PTA utilizes Readwrite Programs as a fundraiser, receiving a
     percentage of the sign-up fees while helping students improve skills.
   • Option B: Readwrite offers the Programs at a reduced price. The savings are passed
     on to parents.
2. We provide send home promotional flyers.
3. Readwrite provides programs, materials, and teachers.

The Three Readwrite Classes:

1. Sound-Start grades K-1

Each session: Ten one-hour after school classes | Class size: 10 students maximum

Students are taught:

• Phonetics for decoding (sounding out words)
• Word structure for encoding (spelling)
• Sentence structure (writing)
• Methods to improve following written and spoken directions
• Word function skills (using context clues)
• Comprehension (vocabulary/critical thinking applications)
• Visualization (developing mental pictures)
• How to work independently
• Self-confidence
• Desire and enjoyment of reading

2. Reading Development grades 2-6

Each session: Ten one-hour after school classes | Class size: 10 students maximum

Students are taught:

• Phonetics for decoding (sounding out words)
• Word structure for encoding (spelling)
• Sentence structure (writing)
• Comprehension (vocabulary/critical thinking applications)
• Reading fluency
• How to work independently
• Self-confidence
• Desire and enjoyment of reading

3. Math Development grades 2-6

Each session: Ten one-hour after school classes | Class size: 10 students maximum

Students are taught:

• Our proprietary “36s” (math basics system)
• Tips for memorization (imprinting)
• Visualization
• Mastery of each skill (addition/subtraction/multiplication/division)
• Math fluency with timed testing
• Math concepts skills (real world problem solving)
• Ability to work independently
• Self-confidence
• Desire and enjoyment of mathematics
